[DM] Permission to dock, your Wrathliness.
[VENJ] You've already docked. And you already got permission when you were coming in, Morgan.
[DM] Captain Morgan, if you please.
[VENJ] (chuckles) I'd heard from Spider that you were taking his ketch for a run.
[DM] My ketch now. Anyhow, need to talk to you for a spell, Petra.
[VENJ] Let's walk and talk.
(sound of pacing footsteps)
[DM] So, the Shipstealer's got the old pirate crews to come out from under their rocks, and they've been attacking supply lines and such.
[VENJ] We're aware. They've been hitting some of our ships, too. We're fairly sure they're all hiding out in the Themis Cluster.
[DM] That's why we're out here. Pirate-hunting. Drive 'em out and take 'em out before they get much bolder.
[VENJ] You'll want to keep an eye out for a rising captain called Sawtooth, then. He's been taking on Imperial Cabal ships.
[DM] Sawtooth? Gresdin Sawtooth?
[VENJ] You've heard of him?
[DM] He's a Guardian killer. Ways back before the Red War. He went to ground before the Dusk consolidation.
[VENJ] Ex-Baron of House Blades. Broke ranks or got kicked out by their Kell not long before House Salvation started making waves last year.
[DM] He sign on with the Salvies?
[VENJ] No. Too proud for that. Formed his own crew, never got enough followers to amount to a proper House, but still has enough clout to draw Eramis's attention.
[DM] And the Blade Kell never went after him?
[VENJ] Sawtooth still had some pull within the House. Making a move to remove him altogether might have broken the Kell's power base completely.
[DM] (grunts) I got a Blade warrior on my crew, just one that wants to win some glimmer and glory to take back to the House. I'll see if they'll parley on my behalf, get some intel. Their Kell would only benefit out of taking Gresdin out.
[VENJ] You'd help us out too. We still have so many resources tied up in the Dreaming City, the ones who are left need resupply, and all these pirate crews running around are impacting the supply chain.
[DM] Well, that brings me to the main point, Venj. If the Skyspear is going to be patrolling about the Themis Cluster, we need a friendly port to call home until the crisis passes.
[VENJ] Our supplies are stretched as it is, Morgan. (pause) But we've made in-roads with the Ascendancy, and there's still some stores left from before the Wolf Rebellion, that might do for your Eliksni crew.
[DM] I'm not asking for much, just a friendly port to stop at while we're hunting out here. I understand your priorities are to your people. It would just be easier to stop off here rather than head all the way back to the Last City.
[VENJ] Understandable. And if you can free up the supply chain, maybe bring back some of the old crews' hoards, it might allow us to resupply better. And then supply you in return.
[DM] Obliged, Venj.
[sound of approaching footsteps, at speed]
[LUNA] Ahoy, Captain!
[DM] Ah, meet one of my crew. This is Luna.
[VENJ] I've met her before, when she's come around with Revenant. Hello again, cousin.
[LUNA] Hey, Petra. Morgan-- we just finished deciphering that data we stripped out of the ketch that tried to attack us. We found where one of the pirate lords is holed up: Savaria. That's where the Brute is hiding.
[VENJ] The Brute? Val'aug the Brute? Do me a favor, Morgan, and give that bitch a thumping for me. She took out one of our corsairs.
[DM] Will do, Venj. Luna, get back to the ship and put the call out for all crew to return to the Skyspear. We're going to go deal with the Brute.
[LUNA] Aye, Captain.
[sound of retreating footsteps, at speed]
[DM] Well, this wasn't much of a stopover, we'll have to talk again next time, P.V.
[VENJ] Next time, you owe me a drink.
[DM] You got it.
